HOUSE CONCERTS
Community, built around art. Be part of a memorable time of songs, stories, & hospitality.
WHAT IS A HOUSE CONCERT?
A house concert is what the name suggests - a shared time of listening to songs & stories together. And it's that simple, too. You don't need a big house or yard - just space for 20 people or so to gather, whether that be a living room, backyard, or other space that would suit. Generally speaking, a Matt Wheeler house concert consists of 1) a time of hanging out & chatting, 2) an hour or so of songs & stories in a listening-room environment, with plenty of humor & interaction mixed in, & 3) more time to hang out and chat. The addition of food is always welcome - a full meal or potluck can work, though light refreshments or a dessert potluck work very well. Matt will either bring a small sound system or play unplugged, depending on what best fits the space & audience.
WHAT DOES A HOUSE CONCERT COST?
To the host? Generally, nothing. A ticket page will be set up for RSVPs, but the tickets will be free, with a suggested donation - usually $15 per attendee or $40 for families. You can focus on showing your guests good hospitality & making them feel welcome.
HOW CAN I BOOK A HOUSE CONCERT?
Glad you asked! You can e-mail [email protected] or fill out & submit the contact form near the bottom of this page to start the conversation.
WHERE ARE YOU BASED, AND ARE YOU WILLING TO TRAVEL?
I live in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, so please bear that in mind as you consider hosting. I'm willing to travel, potentially anywhere in the US or southern Canada, though assistance with travel expenses for concerts beyond 200 miles from my home would need to be considered.
